Amazon.com Review Trying to follow that pencil mark as you cut long stock with a circular saw can be tricky. The mark might blend with the stock if it's painted, making it difficult to see. And certainly, there's sawdust to contend with when it comes to keeping an eye on the cut line. Anyone experiencing these troubles will appreciate the laser guide on this 7-1/4-inch circular saw from Black & Decker. The saw's on-board laser extends a bright, visible line across the work surface, offering a perfectly straight and highly visible cut line that's easy to follow. The saw is powered by a beefy, 13 amp motor that spins the blade at 5,000 rpm's, providing plenty of speed and torque for cross cuts and rips through all types of wood. The saw cuts smoothly through material up to 2-3/8 inches (the tool's capacity at 90 degrees). With an angled cut of 45 degrees, the saw cuts stock up to 1-13/16 inches thick. Bevel adjustments from 0 to 45 offer accurate angled cuts. And, a calibrated depth-adjustment fine-tunes quickly and locks solidly for cuts through materials of varying thicknesses. Best of all, ergonomically designed front- and rear-assist handles with soft grips mean comfort and control on extended jobs and help stabilize the saw for tricky vertical cuts. The purchase is covered by a two-year manufacturer warranty. --Brian D. Olson What's in the Box 18-tooth carbide blade, 6-foot cord, and blade wrench.

COB reduced December 19, 2008 Dean Collins (NY, NY) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
the 1030l replaced the 1040 model. the obvious differences are a drop from 14 amps to 13 amps, if this was it then no problem..... unfortunately it's not!!!! the 1030l is a much lesser product that they have obviously reduced the cost of build (even though retailed at the same price). The first thing is they dont include the ripguard on the 1030l - FFS it's a 10c piece of metal, why would they not include this. The second thing is that the 1030l doesn't include the spin lock button - basically this prevents the blade from spinning when you change the blade (among other things). Anyway, like i said it's still priced about right but dissapointing they removed basic things like this. Dean
Laser is amazing!! November 25, 2008 S. W. Cantrell (Los Angeles, CA USA) Can't emphasize the utility of the on board laser. This allows you to rip a 4X8 plywood board with ease! Makes this tool as easy to use as a jigsaw. Nice feature is that the laser is powered by the cord rather than batteries!
Great Circular Saw October 25, 2008 Dave Broadbent (Perkasie PA) I have really enjoyed this saw, and it has worked perfect. Highly recommend it.
Great Deal October 24, 2008 Handy Girl (Los Angeles) I bought this to cut laminate flooring that we were laying in our home. It arrived in good shape, and everything was easy to put together. It did a great job on cutting on the flooring, and it was very easy to get the hang of. I am really happy with the purchase and would recommend it to anyone doing handywork around the house. I'm not sure how it will hold up with massive construction needs, but for a smaller project like ours, it was great.
