It does a great job July 25, 2008 A Woodworker For the price, it was more than I expected. It took only five minutes to install the handle and the vacuum port. It is heavy duty and does an excellent job at sanding. This machine is going to make my projects a lot easier and faster. I recommend that you use a heavy duty stand, it weighs over 130 pounds.
Baby, you are one hot performer! December 17, 2007 Woody (Providence, RI) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Out of the box, this thing ran perfectly. Ran some rough sawn cherry and after a few passes, it was as smooth as a baby's butt. The manual was clearly written and contains more information than I ever expected. Dust collection is pretty good but some ends up on the floor even with my Grizzly 2hp collector. Nature of the beast I guess. A 4" dust port would be a nice addition. This is going to be such a time saver. I'm building a new set of kitchen cabinets. 18 of them. With 25% of my time spent sanding, this unit is a god send. The price is back to the indroductory low price of $495, down from a high of $650. Better hurry, the price goes back to $650 after Christmas. Update: This tool works exceptionally well. No problems. Makes a buttload of dust though. A good vacuum and dust collector are a must unless you dont care about dust. Put a little bend on the silver tabs at either side of the end of the belt. Otherwise the occasional piece of wood hangs up and makes a big fuss. Clean well after each use.
Solid Performer! May 19, 2007 Barry Despard (Twin Cities) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
I purchased this sander a few months ago and have been very pleased so far. The shipping box had a hole punched in it but the sander was not damaged. It sanded beautifully right out of the box with no adjustments necessary. The main use is for edge sanding face frames. Whether you sand one or several at a time the tracking belt holds each piece in place. I would recommend the required 18 amp circuit or you will be re-setting your circuit breaker. I only have a 15 amp circuit which works fine as long as you don't push the sander too hard, especially if you sand wide pieces. Highly recommended.
