Customer Reviews:

2 out of 5 stars Sold as 2500 mah but only 1950 to 2150mah   November 14, 2008
Larry L. (Southern California)
I bought these about a year ago and have used them about 10-15 times. I just bought the MAHA 9000 charger which allows for a complete break-in cycle which actually measures the capacity of each cell.

I've cyled all of them a few times and found that the MAHA rates them between 1950 and 2150. I've got 12 of them and none rated higher than the 2150.

They work well and seem to supply power well, but if they are sold as 2500mah they should provide that much. If you don't mind the lower capacity they seem fine, but you'll have to recharge them more often.

3 out of 5 stars Dead in under a year....   November 13, 2008
Eric Oconnor (Sunnyvale, California.)

When I click on the item page, Amazon reminds me...
"You purchased this item on November 29, 2007"

The batteries died today.

Not even the La Crosse BC-900 I used to charge these things with can bring them back to life.

As others have stated, the new hybrid batteries are the better choice anyway, though think twice about buying these in particular.
I'm GOOD about not using crummy chargers and using these batteries in a reasonable manner (digicam, xbox controller, GPS...etc.)

These weren't fried in a 15 minute charger or shorted out in faulty equipment. Buyer beware.

I'm giving them 3 stars because they did work for a while.
I should have been able to get another year or so out of them though.

5 out of 5 stars Simply incomparable   November 2, 2008
Ben Campbell (Sedona, AZ (USA))
All batteries considered competition to the strong and dependable Sony 2500 mAh AA, are simply ill prepared.

5 out of 5 stars Sony Batteries Work Great - Good Price   October 27, 2008
Brian Adams (New Orleans, LA)
I found myself buying batteries in the biggest packages I could find... and was buying those packages twice a year. I was burning through 40+ batteries each year powering remotes, beard trimmer, optical mouse and wireless keyboard, etc. Needless to say, this was not a very environmentally friendly practice... so I found that the switch was not just economical, but a moral necessity. Now, I am saving money, powering my peripherals at a constant voltage, and not discarding pounds of batteries each year. I own all sorts of brands of these things, and the Sony batteries hold up just as well as any. A good purchase all around.

One piece of advice: remember to buy four extra to have charged and ready to go... most chargers require a bit of time between plugging and playing.

2 out of 5 stars When compared to Sanyo 2700 there is no comparison   October 24, 2008

I have 12 of these Sony batteries.
I got them without checking out the reviews.
Then I got the LaCrosse battery charger which allows you to charge at different rates and actually see how much the milliampHour is stored.
I also read the reviews and got interested in the Sanyo 2700.

Bottom Line:
If you are uninformed you will like the Sony's
I regret purchasing before becoming informed.

Take note that there are two types
Rechargable around 2700 maH
and
PreCharged around 2000 maH
The PreCharged will hold self life over a year from what I have read here.

Don't waste you time with anything besides Sanyo.

You're on your own now...at least you have been informed.
