 Great cover for your kindle. September 9, 2010

I had bought the apple green cover along with kindle for my daughter. Received both yesterday, the cover looked exactly the same as what the picture shows, really nice! There are two small latches/hinges inside the cover to keep your kindle in place, it took me a few minutes to figure out how to do it the right way. I can't really tell if it's really leather or not, the surface touch is little on the hard side but nontheless comfortable holding in your hand. It's padded inside, which I assume will offer plenty of protection from the abuse of an 8-year-old. I have to say this is a well thought-out designed cover.

very high quality and fits perfect, but i was dismayed to be spending $35 for it. i would have preferred a cheaper, lower quality option.
my only quality concern is the elastic strap fastener. over time it could get stretched out. i have no evidence that this will actually happen though.

I'm returning this cover tomorrow.
I just got it yesterday. My K3 was working fine until I put it into the cover. (I put it in correctly. The hinges are similar on the K2) After I put the K3 into this cover yesterday, my kindle started doing random reboots about every 10 or 15 minutes. It wasnt doing that before I got the cover.
I called Amazon's CS and they sent me an update for the K3 that was supposed to fix it. 10 minutes after the update, it rebooted a couple of times. Then I took the kindle out of the cover because I'd suspected that was causing the problem. The kindle seemed to work pretty good for several hours. Think I saw it reboot maybe once, but that was right after taking it out of the cover.
So, after several hours, I put the K3 back into the cover and turned the Kindle on to read. As soon as I turned it on, the screen went black. (baaaad sign!) and rebooted. It came back up, but seeing that screen go black and reboot immediately after putting the Kindle into the case did it for me. I called CS and am getting a new K3 sent to me and I'm sending this one back along with the cover. I'll never use the hinge system again. I'll just wait for Javoedge (another company that makes covers) to come out with their new line of covers for the K3. (I have two of their K2 covers, love them!)
As for the workmanship of the brown cover I bought, it was nice...didnt really have a bad smell to it...it was more like New Car scent with a hint of leather smell. Didnt care for the rubber bandy thing that keeps the cover closed. The stitching on the cover was great, and it felt like it would protect the Kindle, except for whatever was causing the random rebooting. It looks good, but I'm so suspicious that it was causing problems with the reboots that I just refuse to use this thing.

This is a very well made cover. The inside is a soft sort of felt and the outside is a durable leather. I like the elastic closure a lot. When you open the cover and fold it back you can use the elastic to secure the cover open, very cool. The other nice thing is that it is very easy to remove the Kindle from the cover if you prefer to read it with out a cover on. All in all an excellent cover. I would highly recommend it if you can decide which color to get. I got the burgundy red and it is really a deep, true red. Very nice color.

Quality is nicer than I was expecting, actually. Cover folds backwards very easily and has a good feel. Chocolate Brown looks great, very professional. Resembles a nice memo pad.
