| Customer Reviews: Bare Minerals is the only makeup for me! August 1, 2010 Dr. Holly (Southeast Virginia) Bare Minerals Medium Beige foundation is now the only makeup I will ever use for the rest of my life. I've been wearing it for several years and it has done wonders for my skin! Living in a state that has unbearable heat & humidity during the summer makes for one melting mess normally with makeup foundations of the traditional kind. However, wearing Bare Minerals powder foundation, it stays on pretty well considering what its up against in those hot months. An occasional touch-up is required but at least it doesn't streak all over like liquid foundation. I've had many people over the years tell me that there's such a wonderful glow to my face and that my skin looks so healthy. The truth is that my skin normally doesn't have a glow and doesn't really look healthy unless I am wearing this product. My skin is somewhat combination. I do suffer with pretty severe dryness (it's due to health problems) but I can also get pretty oily in the T-Zone. I've never really had acne other than the occasional spot every now and again but I do have some redness around my cheeks, across my nose and under my bottom lip on the chin. So with that in mind, the only con I can come up with regarding Bare Minerals foundation is that for me at least, the instructed way to apply it, "swirl tap and buff" doesn't work. The reason it doesn't work is because more powder is required to cover up imperfections than they show on their commercials and other advertisements. I'm sure this isn't true for everyone who uses it, but for me, a 9g container of foundation won't last too long. For that reason it can be somewhat pricey to use Bare Minerals but I still use it because nothing can compare to the results I get from it.
I have to admit however that Bare Minerals won't work for everyone. I purchased a kit for a family member with difficult skin and hoped that it would work just as great for them as it has for me. That unfortunately didn't turn out to be the case. For some reason, on their skin, the powder foundation wanted to clump up a bit. I tried applying a moisturizer first and that still didn't help, as well as also trying to exfoliate. So I do believe that there are certain skin types where this may not be the best choice. This family member suffers with Rosacea and patches of dry skin. Bare Minerals did a decent job covering up the Rosacea redness in some places (using the special concealer brush) but still didn't want to absorb into her skin - so it left a somewhat flaky appearance behind.
I can't guarantee that you'll love it as much as I do but I definitely would recommend at least trying it. Pretty much all of Bare Escentuals products have been wonderful for me. Bare Minerals' brushes are soft and do a great job with application. "Warmth" powder adds a gorgeous sunkissed glow and works fantastic for blush. And I've had great luck with their eyeshadow too. Unlike "Sheer Cover" which I had a terrible allergic reaction to, Bare Minerals really did live up to its claims and made my skin healthier than ever before. And yes, I do often sleep in it and never once has it caused a breakout. In fact, sleeping with it still on my skin seems to make it smoother by morning!
I sincerely hope this review helps you decide whether or not Bare Minerals foundation could be right for you. Good luck on your search for the perfect makeup!
I love Bare Minerals July 26, 2010 iluv2shop I love Bare Minerals products and the foundation is a must have product that I always keep on hand.
Little goes a long way July 25, 2010 cilantro88 (Austin) My sister introduced this to me a few months ago and I am just loving it. It serves as both my foundation and powder - no creamy foundation for me anymore, especially in this Texas heat. I don't have many blemishes to cover but I can attest that it balances out my skin tone. It lasts for mostly the whole workday and you just need to use a little bit of it. I also have very sensitive skin and this does not irritate it whatsoever.
Okay for very oily, acne proned skin July 22, 2010 P. V. Anderson (Bay Area, CA) I used BE's original formula for it's bare mineral foundation, so I decided to give this a try. Before I had problems finding a good match of foundation for my skin tone but since they came out with more colors, I finally found something that matched (golden tan)! This one comes with a cool plastic top that you twist to open (to dispense the product) or close, which can prevent some nasty spills. The coverage is still the same, you can always build it up to get your desired coverage you want. It does well, on it's own, covering/softening my acne scars that I have on my face. It doesn't irritate my skin or cause break outs like a lot of the foundations I have tried in the past, however since I do have very oily skin I notice I have to blot/do touch ups. I highly suggest wearing a primer underneath this if you do have oily skin. It's a very long lasting foundation, which is great since I'm usually on campus for a long time.
Overall, it's a nice foundation that I would recommend using.
Best foundation I've ever used July 21, 2010 Cynthia (Los Angeles, CA) This is the best foundation I've ever used. Though I'm in my 50's I have oily skin and still break out sometimes. I also have sensitive skin. I know it seems counterintuitive to put dry powder on mature skin but it does not sit on top. As with all makeup it's important to blend it and especially with this product to be careful not to use too much. It will look like it's sitting on top your skin but give it a few minutes and somehow it blends and looks very natural. My only complaint is I wish they made a color lighter than fair and that the SPF was higher than 15. I live in Southern California and it would be nice to protect my skin more from the bright sun. By the way Fair has no green/yellow tones in it. It works best on ruddier skin.
