Be VERY Careful With This January 6, 2009 Stephanie (TX) This product works...almost too well. You have to lightly...and I mean LIGHTLY...press it against the sweater to get the fuzzies off. If you press too hard you will suck the sweater in it and you'll have a pull in the sweater. I had read this in another review, so I made sure to be careful, yet I still got a couple of small nicks in one sweater. But I'm still glad I got it. I had a couple of sweaters that had little balls of fuzz all over them and it looks great now. But it took a little while b/c I had to go slow and make sure I didn't press too hard. So, to sum it up, I'd recommend this product. But I'd do so with a disclaimer to be very, VERY careful.
remington fuzz away fabric shaver January 6, 2009 James J. Hill (Pt. Townsend, WA United States) Product works as advertised. used first on a large sweatshirt, and did indeed remove about 75% of all the "pills" that had come up since purchase of the sweat shirt.
Effective, reasonably-priced solution January 6, 2009 A. Bachman (Ohio, USA) When looking for a way to salvage several sweaters that were in need of replacement, I purchased both the D-Fuzz-It DFuzzIt Sweater & Fabric Comb by Oak Hill as well as the Remington RPFS-100 Fuzz Away Fabric Shaver above. I found that both products worked well. The more expensive, battery operated Remington RPFS-100 Fuzz Away Fabric Shaver worked well removing larger, discrete fuzz balls from sweaters, but was less effective on removing fuzz before it balled up. The D-Fuzz-It-Sweater And Fabric Comb was more labor intensive and a bit messy, but was more effective on removing fuzz before it balled-up, giving more of a "like-new" appearance to the sweater. (Yes I have learned more about sweater fuzz than anyone should know.) I would recommend both products. They have saved me a combined $300 - $400 so far.
the best I ever tried January 5, 2009 Mauricio Castillo (Sam Jose, Costa Rica) I works fantastic, I leaves the fabric as brand new. it really picks up every litle thing from the fabric, even though It does not pick up animals hair, it works prefectly on the rest on fabric litle cotton balls
The problem with this item is the on/off switch January 5, 2009 Duane Erstad (Bogota, Colombia) I've used this item for a year or more--branded as Evercare, but the same shaver. It works great: cashmere sweaters, other sweaters, even pilly socks. And it has never done ANY damage while I've used it. The reports on this thing not continuing to work reflect the cheap on/off switch you can see if you take it apart. Thus: first you think your batteries are bad--no! Disassembly shows a switch consisting of a wire too thin to be a decent paper clip. Can this be fixed--I don't know. Sadly, the unit itself functions so well that one really wants to make it work reliably. If I were to buy this or a similar unit again, I'd look for the A/C powered unit that Evercare has marketed. I find myself using this so much that it would be the better choice.
